BC of 5mm, 32-grain Sierra BK and 22-caliber, 40-grain Nosler BTare similar. The Nosler has a real-world edge but that does not make up for the initial velocity difference. Author's best 22-250 loads with the 40 BT reach 4400 fps, far short of the 4700 fps generated by best 32 BK 5mm/35 SMc™ loads. Moreover, 5/35 recoil is far less so it is much easier to observe impacts, even on close-range targets. Finally, barrel heating is so much less that one can shoot about twice the number of rounds without overheating barrel.
