This view shows the lighted chronograph screens and the table where the bullet trap was eventually positioned (the backstop at the Cortez Rifle and Pistol Club indoor range is not designed to stop high-velocity rifle bullets). Also note that after preliminary testing, in order to improve velocity measurement accuracy, we moved the gun back so that the center screen was 15-feet from the muzzle. Notice how far above the bench top we have deliberately positioned the rifle barrel; our goal was to minimize insulating or reflective heating effects.

This close-up view (while badly overexposed) shows that scope and stock do not significantly extend forward of the receiver. Our goal was to minimize insulating or reflective heating effects.
