We tested this bullet at the Friends of Billy Dixon Range, firing at a target 1538 yards distant. The tested 45-70 loads produced approximately 1800 f/s at the muzzle. This combination proved to be exceptionally accurate. (Velocity dropped below the speed of sound at about 900 yards.)

Made from leaded brass, this bullet will tolerate any pressure. We expect it will generate good accuracy when launched slower than about 2000 f/s. We hope to eventually gain experience with higher muzzle velocities to see if it will maintain good accuracy at longer ranges.

Our design goal was to create a bullet that would minimize yaw as a result of buffeting while slowing through the sonic-transition. Evidently, we succeeded because a spotter near the impact zone could not hear any yaw as the bullet passed (traditional Sharps bullets generate a clearly audible warble as a result of yaw).

Current cost is $2.50 each (we hope to be able to reduce costs as we are able to increase production; however, materials cost will remain significant.)

Recovered bullet, fired just below the 7/8-mile distant target.
